Worst transliteration ever!

Chad gad-yo?

Ey-lee-yo-hu?

The transliterations in the ancient Manischevitz Haggadah are befuddling to me, maybe because they're just nutty, or maybe because I was raised with to pronounce Hebrew with a more Sephardic pronunciation.

These transliterations crack me up, I'd be curious whether they make sense to anyone.

This is the wine of affliction

I think the Jews developed this wine, as well as its Kedem and Manischevitz siblings, in order to smuggle sugar out of Egypt during the exodus. It is truly a struggle, and ultimately, an achievement to finish four full glasses of the stuff --and here outside Israel we get to drink our way out of Egypt two nights in a row, and we drink it all, year after year. That's the kind of stuff we're made of. Yah!

Leaving for Minneapolis

I'm on a plane about to depart from the quaint Burbank International Airport for Dallas, enroute to Minneapolis. I saw the following sign while in the security line, so I guess I'd better not leave my baggage unattended so that it doesn't get any bright ideas.

The hand-drawn flyer for the next couple of Saint Motel shows

The band drew up a few hundred of these and handed them out on the streets of Austin. People seemed to like 'em.

My iPhone just tried to correct 'em to "'rm", and when I tried again, to "'el". WTF?
